Too Tired to Eat

Last week was grocery shopping week and it took me a little longer than usual. I'm still trying to get used to shopping once every two weeks. When we got home, I decided I better feed Benjamin right away before putting groceries away. He was really tired! But it was too late for food. He ate a couple of bites and then fell asleep in his booster seat. Now that's tired!

Silly Boy!

Last week Benjamin found one of my head bands and thought it was a great toy. I put it on his head and he found it pretty funny. I decided it should be called head gear as opposed to a head band when I put it on him because it sounds more masculine. hehehe! He's so silly!

What I see when Benjamin wakes up

Benjamin loves to jump in his crib! This is what he typically does when I come in to get him in the mornings. I love it!

Cookie Monster

We just love those Sunday afternoons when we can come home from church and enjoy family time. This past Sunday was one of those days. We watched a movie, relaxed on the back porch while Benjamin played outside, and enjoyed some yummy chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate chip cookies were intended for the adults only, but Benjamin thought he was missing out. As soon as the cookies were cool enough to eat, Matt and I each grabbed one and headed into the living room to eat them. Benjamin had followed us into the kitchen and we assumed he would follow us back out. He did follow us, but not before he reached up to the counter top and grabbed a cookie for himself. We both died laughing when he came trotting into the living room with a big cookie. He just looked at us like, "Ahhh, I'm so glad it's time for cookies." Unfortunately he had thrown up that morning and Matt had stayed home from church with him, so a cookie was out of the question. His face was so sad when we took it away that it almost broke my heart.

A Little Dirt Won't Hurt

What is it about boys and dirt? It seems there is a magnetic attraction between the two. We've been enjoying some much needed rain over the past week or so and this past Sunday we were sitting on our back patio and Benjamin was loving being outside as usual. I have a flower pot full of rocks that I pulled out of my garden and he loves to play with them. While we were outside it began to rain and the rocks got wet which meant all the dirt on them turned to mud. Benjamin thought it was great. Yay for bathtubs! :)

Quick Little Post

Well, we seem to be doomed with computer problems. Our computer hard drive has crashed. Fortunately it's still under warranty and we will be getting a new one delivered and istalled at the end of this week. For now I am on a super slow computer at the gym, so I'll have many posts to catch you up when we get our computer back. I never realized how much I depended on it. :)

When Mommy's Not Looking...

This morning I got ambitious and made cranberry muffins to go with breakfast. Benjamin thought they were the best breakfast ever. :) In fact, he thought they were so good that when I went upstairs, he decided to use the dishwasher to climb up to the counter to help himself to another. Now for breakfast, I broke his muffin up into bite size pieces like a good mother so he wouldn't choke. But apparently that is an unnecessary step. I left Benjamin playing happily while I ran upstairs for 5 minutes. All of the sudden, he got really quiet and I started wondering if he was OK. I quickly went down stairs and didn't see or hear him. Then I went in the kitchen and saw him sitting on the dishwasher happily finishing a muffin. He ate a whole muffin in about 5 minutes! Now how do you handle these situations? Obviously he is not supposed to climb on the dishwasher, let alone pull things off the counter. But when I came around the corner and saw him I burst out laughing before I could think. So I guess training time will have to come another day. For now, it's a funny story.

Keeping Cool

Benjamin continues to love water. Lately we have had some scorchingly hot weather (as you can see by our brown grass) so we like to go out and cool off with the hose.

Beaches and Birthdays

I took Benjamin in for a professional photography session this week. This was my fourth attempt to take him in. My first attempt came right before Father's Day, but there were no appointments available. Then I tried again, but Benjamin woke up with a rash on the day of his appointment. Our third try was for a weekend and we crammed too much into the day and had to cancel again. Try number four finally worked. I must confess that I had been dreading this session because our last professional photography session was not the best experience. We ended up with a couple of decent pictures, but it wasn't pleasant getting them. This time I tried a different studio (Portrait Innovations), and I loved them! Not only did they get some great shots, but they did a really good job of interacting with Benjamin to get him to smile. He had a great time and loved the attention. Then, they even played with Benjamin while I picked out the pictures I wanted. I know it was a bit late for his birthday, but I brought in a cake and they took pictures of him devouring it. Boy did he have a sugar high to come off of that night! But it was really fun. So, since we were so pleased, we went back this weekend for family photos. Here are a few of our favorites.
