It's for Grils (Girls)!

How does the saying go? "Monkey see monkey do?" Well, here's my little monkey attempting to imitate his mommy. Benjamin loves to watch me put on make-up and we have little conversations about what I'm doing and most of those sentences end with him asking to do it too. My response is always "no, it's only for girls." So, when I came upon him in the bathroom looking like this and asked him what he was doing, his response was "it's for grils (a.k.a. girls)." Just need to figure out a way to get that head knowledge to kick in and affect the actions. But for now, I just get to laugh, give some stern instruction, and take some really cute pictures.
The new use for mascara. Who knew???

Keeping Warm?

It's been unusually cold here in Texas this January. It started off super cold, then teased us with some beautiful 70 degree days. Now it's back to pretty cold. We set our heat to comfortable and then got our electric bill, so I've been suffering at 66. Brrrr. I know for some that's not bad, but for this hothouse flower, it's cold. So, I have some warm fuzzy socks just for the occasion and Benjamin loves them. In fact, he loves them so much and thinks they are so warm, that he figures he doesn't need anything else. So, it's 66 degrees and he's running around in my green striped socks, warm as toast. Crazy Boy!

Happy Adoption Day!

Two years ago today we went before a judge in Dallas, Texas and finalized Benjamin's adoption. I can hardly believe it's been that long already. We debated a little about whether to celebrate his placement date or his finalization date and while we will probably always make a big deal about both, we have decided that we will probably make a bigger deal about the finalization date since placement was just three days after his birthday. So tonight we are celebrating with some of his little friends, pepperoni pizza (his request) and cupcakes. He's super excited and woke up this morning telling me it was adoption party day. I don't think he fully grasps the concept of adoption yet, but he's definitely getting small parts of it. I love to talk to him about his story and telling it always reminds me what an amazing gift we have been given in being his parents. Happy Adoption Day Benjamin. I love you so much!!

ABC Time!

Benjamin has started singing his ABC's this week and I love it! He's getting to be such a big boy! I tried to catch him on video, but he loves to be up close and personal and be able to see the screen, so I had to turn the screen around just to get him in front and not behind the camera. Thus the lack of centeredness. (is that a word?)

And here is the second attempt of the day to get him to sing his ABC's. Matt didn't know I had done a video this morning, so it was funny that we both thought of trying to capture it at different times on the same day. Benjamin decided that he had had enough of the boring videos by take two though and decided watching himself on the camera screen while he got silly was way more fun. I have to say I agree. I have laughed more watching it that I've laughed in a long time. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
