All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth

Last week was the beginning of the tooth adventure for Benjamin. We noticed there was a tooth close to the surface on Sunday night the 9th. The next morning it was through. A couple of days later, the one right next to it started coming close to breaking through. This morning it was official. Benjamin got his two teeth in time for Christmas. We have been so blessed by his cheerfulness through the process. He really has not fussed much at all.

Other than getting teeth, Benjamin has been practicing sitting up. This morning he sat alone for seven or eight minutes. He is really starting to like the fact that he can look around better while sitting up. He's loving his toys more and more and he's doing a very good job at getting to them by scooching.

Next week we will celebrate our first Christmas as a family of three. God has blessed us so much with Benjamin and we look forward to seeing family and sharing his first Christmas with them.

Benjamin has been quite entertaining lately. He has a new laugh that just cracks us up. When we tickle him, he kind of has a belly laugh, but sometimes he just cracks up about something else and this is what he sounds like. Enjoy!

So one of my favorite things to do is dress Benjamin up in cute things. I know, he is a boy, but there really are so many cute boys' things for him to wear and we have been so blessed with people giving or loaning us cute clothes. So here he is modeling an adorable hat.

Celebration weekend

This weekend we celebrated the end of Matt's second to last semester at school! We are so excited to have a whole month together before he starts his last semester. No homework taking up our whole weekends! Woohoo!

We decided to make it a fun weekend and stayed in a hotel here in town just to get away a relax. Benjamin did really well sleeping in his pack-n-play and we are hoping that he will do as well over Christmas when he will be sleeping in it every night. While we were at the hotel, we decided to introduce him to the pool. He has loved his baths from the very first time he had one, so I have always thought he would be our little fish. He proved us to be right and enjoyed the water. It was a little cold, so we didn't keep him in long, but it was fun.

5 months old today!

Benjamin is 5 months old today! He is getting so big! He has gotten much more steady and will sit for a few seconds without support. He prefers standing to sitting however and has mommy and daddy thinking he may walk early. Kind of scary! He is laughing more and more too and has such a great personality. Yesterday he was cracking himself up by chewing on a cloth book that has crinkle paper inside it. I guess the sound it made when he bit on it made him laugh. We are just having so much fun with him these days!

Thanksgiving time

Well, Benjamin will be 5 months old this week. Time is passing far too quickly! We spent Thanksgiving with his birthmom Olana and had a great time! We are so thankful for her love for Benjamin and for the gift she has given us. God has been so good to us this year and we have much to be thankful for. Benjamin is such a blessing! Benjamin had his first taste of "solid" food today. He had rice cereal that was so watered down I'm not sure it qualifies as solid. But he did pretty well with it considering it was his first experience. Mommy got lots of funny faces.

Doctor Day

Well, Benjamin was 4 months old this past Tuesday. We can hardly believe how fast time has flown. He had his 4 month check up and weighed in at 16 lbs even and 25.75 inches. He is getting to be such a big boy. The doctor told me that we are getting into the time that should almost be illegal because it's so much fun. I totally agree! He is just getting more and more personality every day.

He is also getting more and more active. We have our changing station set up on the floor for lack of a better place to put it. Since we use cloth diapers and wipes, I just keep a bowl of water by the changing pad for wetting the wipes. This week, I set Benjamin in his room on the floor (across the room from the changing area) and went to change some laundry and a couple other quick things. When I came back to the room, I heard splashing. Benjamin had managed to scoot on his back to the changing area and had used his feet to tip the bowl of water. I just had to laugh. He was having a grand time! But I will be leaving the bowl empty on the floor from now on.

First Post in our very own family blog

We thought this would be a fun way to keep you all up to date on the latest things happening with our family. This blog thing is very new to me (I know, we are behind the times), but I will try to keep it updated as much as possible. Of course, most of our news will be Benjamin related. :)

So, the big news for this week...Benjamin is on the move! He rolled from his stomach to his back twice in one day about two weeks ago, and has not done it since, but this week, he has mastered the back to tummy roll and does it daily. He has also gotten to be quite good at moving around on his back. He just digs his heels into the floor and pushes himself backwards. Or, if he would like to go forward, he picks up his legs and propels himself forward as he brings them back to the floor. Looks like a pretty good workout for the abs.
